Savor

Eat mindfully - savor every bite.Day Eight’s Challenge:
Eat something wonderful and savor every bite.

You’re in for a special treat today, and you may want to give this challenge a little thought before taking it on.

Today’s challenge: eat something wonderful and savor every bite.

Whether it’s something you cook yourself or something you get at a favorite restaurant or grocer – treat yourself. Now, this is not permission to overindulge! Do not eat the whole chocolate cake (if chocolate cake is your something wonderful); one small piece will do! The point is to enjoy every mouthful. Take you time eating it by setting down your fork or spoon after each bite. Serve it on good china and use a cloth napkin. This is as much about the experience of eating as it is the food being eaten. You are a special person and are worthy of having a special treat. Enjoy every bite!

I will share with you what my something wonderful to eat is: dark chocolate. It’s something that I eat almost every day. I like my dark chocolate to be at least 70% cacao, and ideally organic (or at least non-GMO) and fair trade was well. I only eat about 1/4 of the bar at a time – sometimes less. I place the smallest segment (I think they’re called pips) into my mouth and let it melt on my tongue. Mmmm. So good. I find that taking the time to enjoy that tiny bit is so much more satisfying than simply popping a piece in my mouth and chewing it all up.

What’s your favorite food?
Here’s mine: Endangered Species Chocolate. I love the Wolf (Cranberries & Almonds) and Black Rhino (Hazelnuts). And Theo Classic Organic dark chocolate bars. I’m partial to the toasted coconut one.
[NOTE: These are affiliate links to Amazon.com, where you can order them by the dozen (Endangered Species brand) or half-dozen (Theo Classic brand). You can also find them sold individually in many grocery stores, often in the healthy or gourmet food section.]
