Recognize the beauty in nature that is around you.
The Beauty Around You
This exercise is to help you recognize the beauty around you. We’re in the beginning of Spring (at least here in the Northern Hemisphere) and nature is waking up before our eyes. Take a moment to whip out the smart phone or your camera and snap a photo or two… or more. Could be the sunrise or sunset, a budding tree branch, a single bloom. Perhaps there’s an ornate door in your neighborhood or the sun creates an interesting shadow through a fence. Reflect how you are part of nature. Take a moment to breathe in deeply and notice the various smells. Listen to the sounds around you: the rustling of leaves, chirping of birds, laughter of children on the playground. Be thankful for today and the beauty it holds.
Yesterday, my husband ran a 10K race in a little town on the beach. We were there bright and early in the morning and I sat enjoying a hot cup of cocoa while he warmed up. The morning sun reflecting off the ocean was gorgeous. While a photo hardly does the scene justice, it at least represents a glimmer of the breezy April morning. Long shadows cast by the dune grass dot the foreground, but it was that shimmer of the ocean and cool, cloudy sky that caught my eye. The smell of the clean ocean air and the sound of the gently crashing waves awakened my senses.
So take the time to really look around you today and find the beauty in nature. Take a photo to capture that beauty even if it pales in comparison to the real thing. The photo will remind you of the moment.
