Day Twenty-two’s Challenge:
Just get it done!
What has been on the perpetual to-do list that you keep putting off? Scheduling that mammogram or colonoscopy? Reviewing your life insurance? Replacing the light bulb in the closet? Whatever it is that’s been on the “To Do – someday” list that you just keep avoiding, sit down right now and make that phone call, or appropriate action. (Sadly, all those things are on my list – plus more!)
For almost every challenge, I began implementing the task before I gave it to you all. But not this one! I can be the queen of procrastination, especially if the task is one that I don’t find particularly pleasant or is just mundane and boring. If the reward (I like when there is a reward) is not greater than the perceived “pain” to undertake the task, then said task is quickly delegated to the “later gator” pile.
Funny thing is, most of the time, the “pain” is far greater in my mind than in reality. AND – the reward of just getting that task off my to-do list is far greater than any other reward (real or imagined). So I’m going to quit my belly-aching and pick one thing (probably randomly) to tackle. How about you? What have you been putting off? Get it done!
